Welcome!
My name is
John Alexander, and I founded Back Bay Technology back in 1999.
Back Bay is still a "one-man shop", but that might change one of these days.
For now, it's just me. I took a break for a few years and accepted an employee
position at a major non-profit. While that work was personally rewarding,
I am once again pursuing business as a private consultant. Thank you for visiting
my web site.
I am a Systems Engineer who specializes in delivering Enterprise-Class infrastructure deployments using Microsoft technology. For example, if you are considering
a Vista deployment, a migration to Windows Server 2003 (soon 2008) or Exchange 2007 -- you've
come to the right place. I am also very interested in Microsoft's UC (Unified Communications)
vision, which integrates SharePoint, Exchange, Live Communications Server, VoIP,
and mobility.
In my discussions with potential clients recently, I've noticed a trend. I've
talked to at least 3 different groups who were either offering a hosted solution,
or planning to, and they were concerned about scalability. This happens to
be an area where I have some experience, and there appears to be demand, so I now
call out a "Scalability Assessment" consulting engagement on the "Services" page.
